Weyzazert

Just of the road from lake Tana to Addis there is a church that has one of the best examples of First Gondarine wall paintings from the 17th century. There are only three known churches within Ethiopia that have a sanctuary painted in the First Gondarine style. The church is built in a circular plan with a square sanctuary in the centre. These paintings have never been publishes and as such they are quite unknown. They are generally in a very good condition but they are in need of cleaning and consolidating.
